The Think Tank

The moment you stop questioning what you’re told, is the moment
somebody else starts to do your thinking. ~Jack Quill

Meet Jack Quill – The Man Behind The Think Tank

Some people have imaginary friends. I have an imaginary writing partner. His name is Jack Quill, and somewhere along the way, he quickly managed to take over an entire room at the Just Loud Enough/Free Screech headquarters. Nobody remembers exactly when Jack Quill joined us and come to think of it, nobody even remembers inviting him. (lol)

Jack isn’t a musician, although he spends plenty of time around the band. He’s a writer, researcher, philosopher, and professional question-asker. He’s also a bit of a troublemaker, particularly when someone tells him that something shouldn’t be questioned.

The truth is, Jack and I have quite a bit in common. We share many of the same interests, observations, opinions, and frustrations. Some say we even look alike. The biggest difference is that Jack has a remarkable ability to take my rambling thoughts and turn them into something people might actually enjoy reading. He represents my literary alter ego, brought to life by mixing my overactive imagination with his assistance and expertise with artificial intelligence.

Together, we explore everything from health and aging to music, relationships, individualism, personal responsibility, and the occasional absurdity of modern life. Sometimes our conversations become articles. Sometimes they inspire songs. And occasionally, they lead us somewhere neither of us expected.

Welcome to The Think Tank, where no subject is automatically off-limits, no opinion is beyond questioning, and the coffee is always on.

A Word From Jack’s Desk:

Well, apparently I’ve been given my own page. I’m not entirely sure whose idea that was, but I suspect Wayne will eventually regret it. You see, I have a habit of asking questions. Lots of them. Particularly when someone insists they already have all the answers.

I don’t expect you to agree with everything written here. In fact, I’d be a little disappointed if you did. What I hope is that something you read, hear, or discover makes you think a little differently, question an old assumption, or perhaps see something familiar from an entirely new perspective.

Pull up a chair, grab a coffee, and make yourself comfortable. And if you see a black cat sleeping on the manuscripts, that’s Benny. He’s management and reports directly to Wayne.

rau·ci·ty (n.) Rough, harsh music with free screeching vocals, ear-numbing guitars,
thunderous drums. Boisterous, disorderly abandon triggered by sound. The
uncontrollable urge to move, shout, and feel music in your bones.
Music that’s not too loud, not too soft, just loud enough.
Opinions and screeches that deserve to be heard.
Relax, we won’t tell mom you’re here.
