Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it
will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. ~Albert Einstein

X(yz+1): I’m a drummer, writer, lifelong music lover, occasional philosopher, health and fitness enthusiast, news junkie, and incurable storyteller. Music is high on my list, but I also need a place to share all my other interests. Remember, I’m the guy playing in a band with four imaginary musicians. I got a lot of shit in my head. Welcome to my corner...
FREEDOM OF SPEECH: For your listening pleasure. Enjoy…
BREAKING & SHAKING: I’m a big fan of independent journalism because I’m not a big fan of censorship. I always seek out the independent media over the legacy media first. I’m also not a big fan of talking heads just reading off of a teleprompter. The are dozens of examples on YouTube of newscasters reading the exact same script. And… I like reading what regular folk have to say too.
- You lose respect for yourself when you repeatedly watch yourself choose relief over standards. The damage is not only the behavior. Your brain starts updating its prediction of who you are: “When things get hard, I fold.” Reversing that prediction requires new evidence, not better affirmations. ~Leo | Phalanx Labs
- Everyone around you is getting exactly what they want out of life. most are just betraying their true selves, believing they want something more for themselves, while their actions indicate something completely different from what they are saying. ~Boss
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is one of the best windows into your resilience. Higher HRV generally reflects a stronger parasympathetic response and a more adaptable nervous system. Think of it as a real-time measure of how well your body recovers from life’s demands. ~Frank Lipman MD
BREAKING & SHAKING II: More news, views, clues, and blues of the day.
- The problem is not people being uneducated. The problem is that people are educated just enough to believe what they have been taught, and not educated enough to question anything from what they have been taught. ~Prof. Feynman
- Your self-control gets weaker when every promise you make to yourself gets broken. The brain learns from evidence, not affirmations. Miss enough commitments and “I’ll do it tomorrow” stops carrying psychological weight. Rebuilding discipline starts with making smaller promises you can actually keep until your nervous system begins trusting your own instructions again. ~Leo | Phalanx Labs
- Nobody tells you this: You can wake up and decide that’s enough. Enough of the low standards. Enough of the bad habit. Enough of the outdated identity. Enough of whatever. You don’t need some dramatic reason, either. It’s perfectly reasonable to wake up one day, say “this no longer works for me,” and make a change. You can reinvent yourself. Today, tomorrow, and as many times as you need to create the life you want. ~Sahil Bloom
BREAKING & SHAKING III: Even more news, views, clues, and blues of the day.
- People massively underestimate what a few focused years actually do. You can build a business. Change your body completely. Move countries. Build a new circle from scratch. Learn a skill that pays you for life. Where you’re standing right now becomes almost irrelevant. The problem is everyone wants the transformation without giving the process enough time to work. ~Dylan Madden
- RFK Jr: There are 30 million school lunches every day that we pay for, 15 million school breakfast, and the top item on school lunches has been Pop-Tarts and pastries and donuts. And we’re now changing that and taking those things off the menu, and we’re gonna give kids real food. ~Wall Street Apes
- If you want to save Social Security: You don’t do it by raising the retirement age of people that have worked their entire lives to 70+. You do it by kicking out the illegals, foreigners, fraudsters, liars and scumbags that have been abusing it and sucking it dry for decades!! ~SaltyGoat
GOOD READS AT AMAZON.COM:
- If you’re having trouble changing your habits, the problem isn’t you. The problem is your system. Bad habits repeat themselves again and again not because you don’t want to change, but because you have the wrong system for change. You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. Here, you’ll get a proven system that can take you to new heights. ~Atomic Habits
- Epictetus and Demosthenes to Amelia Earhart and Richard Wright—followed a simple formula to achieve greatness. They were not exceptionally brilliant, lucky, or gifted. Their success in overcoming extreme obstacles was the result of a timeless set of philosophical principles that the greatest men and women have always pursued. ~The Obstacle is the Way
- In the book that People magazine proclaimed “beguiling” and “fascinating,” Robert Greene and Joost Elffers have distilled three thousand years of the history of power into 48 essential laws by drawing from the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, and Carl Von Clausewitz and also from the lives of figures ranging from Henry Kissinger to P.T. Barnum. ~The 48 Laws of Power
