Don’t Die in the Waiting Room

X(yz+1): Funny thing about tomorrow, we spend it like it’s guaranteed, like there’s always one more morning, for the things we say we need. But calendars don’t make a bargain, clocks don’t care about your plans, and every day you leave unopened, is one you’ll never hold again.

DON’T DIE IN THE WAITING ROOM:

I was waiting till I had the money,
Waiting till I had the time,
Waiting till I felt more certain,
Waiting for some kind of sign.
Waiting till the fear got smaller,
Till the pieces all fell right,
Like someday somebody’d walk in
And give me permission for my life.

But someday ain’t a promise,
And ready ain’t a place,
And time don’t stop its running
While you’re waiting for the race.

There’s a whole world through that doorway,
And brother, here’s the truth

DON’T DIE IN THE WAITING ROOM

Waiting for your life to start.
Waiting on the perfect moment,
Waiting on a braver heart.
You don’t need the stars to line up,
You don’t need the perfect view
Kick that damn door open,
There’s a life out there for you.

Don’t spend your years getting ready
For a someday that may never come.
DON’T DIE IN THE WAITING ROOM
GET THE HELL UP… AND RUN.

Maybe there’s a road you’ve wanted,
Maybe there’s a song unsung,
Maybe words you’ve never spoken
Still keep sitting on your tongue.
Maybe someone else’s judgment
Kept you smaller than you are,
Maybe you’ve been asking strangers
For permission to go far.

Maybe you keep saying Monday,
Maybe when the kids are grown,
Maybe when you lose the twenty pounds,
Maybe when you’re not alone.
There’s a thousand ways to tell yourself
“Not yet… but pretty soon.”
That’s how years become a lifetime
Sitting in a waiting room.

There ain’t gonna be a trumpet,
There ain’t gonna be a cue
Nobody’s coming through that door
To start your life for you.

DON’T DIE IN THE WAITING ROOM

Waiting for your life to start.
Waiting on the perfect moment,
Waiting on a braver heart.
You don’t need the stars to line up,
You don’t need the perfect view
Kick that damn door open,
There’s a life out there for you.

Don’t spend your years getting ready
For a someday that may never come.
DON’T DIE IN THE WAITING ROOM
GET THE HELL UP… AND RUN.

Funny thing about tomorrow
We spend it like it’s guaranteed.
Like there’s always one more morning
For the things we say we need.
But calendars don’t make a bargain,
Clocks don’t care about your plans,
And every day you leave unopened
Is one you’ll never hold again.

So wear the shirt you’ve been saving.
Take the trip. Make the call.
Tell somebody that you love them.
Try the thing and risk the fall.
Write the book. Sing the damn song.
Let ’em laugh if that’s what they do.
A life spent avoiding failure
Is a life failure stole from you.

You may never feel ready.
You may never lose the fear.
You may never get permission
From the people you hold dear.

But courage isn’t waiting
Till there’s nothing left to lose.

Courage is being scared as hell…
And walking through that door anyway.

So what are you waiting for?

Another year?

Another sign?

Another somebody
To tell you it’s your time?

IT’S YOUR TIME.

DON’T DIE IN THE WAITING ROOM,
Waiting for your life to start!
Waiting on the perfect moment,
Waiting on a braver heart!
You don’t need the stars to line up,
You don’t need the perfect view
KICK THAT DAMN DOOR OPEN,
THERE’S A LIFE OUT THERE FOR YOU!

Let tomorrow find you moving!
Let yesterday be done!
You don’t need another lifetime
YOU JUST NEED TO START WITH ONE!

One step.
One chance.
One road you’ve never run

DON’T DIE IN THE WAITING ROOM
GET THE HELL UP…

AND LIVE.

DON’T DIE IN THE WAITING ROOM!
