The jack-o-lantern follows me with tapered, glowing eyes. His yellow teeth
grin evily. His cackle I despise. But I shall have the final laugh
when Halloween is through. This pumpkin king I’ll split in
half to make a pie for two. ~Richelle E. Goodrich

X(yz+1): When the moon rises over the pumpkin patch and the jack-o’-lanterns start to glow, it’s time to turn up the guitars and wake the neighbors… living or otherwise. This is Just Loud Enough’s Halloween anthem: a little spooky, a little ridiculous, and built for anyone who believes ghosts, goblins, scarecrows, and rock ’n’ roll belong at the same party.

THE SCARECROW GRINS:

There’s a scarecrow grinnin’ in a field of corn,
Wearing shades like the day he was born,
Old black coat and a beat-up hat,
Crow on his shoulder sayin’, “How ’bout that?”
Jack-o’-lanterns light the road,
Something’s knockin’ where the cold wind blows,
Got a full moon hangin’ like a warning sign
But we ain’t runnin’, boys, tonight is ours!

Hear that thunder from the old red barn,
Feel that six-string sound the alarm,
If anybody’s sleepin’, they won’t be for long
TURN IT UP!

Shake those bones till the morning light,
Let the guitars scream, let the bonfire burn,
Wake every ghost from here to concern!
No tricks, no fear – we came to light
This whole damn field with rock ’n’ roll
Just Loud Enough to wake your soul!

Marko’s got a six-string dressed in black,
Mike’s a pirate with a bottle in his pack,
Steve’s Count Dracula, looking for blood,
Jessica’s casting spells in the Mississippi mud.
And there in the middle where the pumpkins grow,
There’s a straw man stealing the show,
Fedora tilted, sunglasses on
That scarecrow’s grinning and he’s playing along!

Now the barn doors shake and the rafters moan,
Something’s dancing underneath the stones,
If you came for quiet, brother, you came wrong—
TURN IT UP!

Shake those bones till the morning light,
Let the guitars scream, let the bonfire burn,
Wake every ghost from here to concern!
No tricks, no fear – we came to light
This whole damn field with rock ’n’ roll
Just Loud Enough to wake your soul!

I hear footsteps behind me…

Better not turn around…

I hear something breathing…

But I kinda like the sound…

Shake those bones till the morning light,
Let the guitars scream, let the bonfire burn,
Pumpkin moon and a field on fire,
We’ll keep on playing till the rooster calls
JUST LOUD ENOUGH…

Hey… Anybody seen the scarecrow?
